When you map your knowledge, it quickly assumes the shape of a tree.
The trunk holds the first principles- the stuff you learn in School and the Academy, the foundations of your skills. As you go deeper into the branches, you find the fine threads of nuance and experience.
Each human endeavor has its large branches, that split into smaller and smaller niches. I'm always astonished when I stumble upon someone else's niche- we are like ants, each dragging along its own personal crumb, taking part in building the human colossus.
